Day 11 – Santiago to Lisbon was kind of a wasted travel day
A long travel day and I would not do this again.
8:30 AM Taxi to the Bus Station
9:00 Bus to Vigo
12:00 Bus to Porto and taxi across town to the Camphana Train Station
for the high speed train to Lisbon
3:47 PM Train to Lisbon, but the signs in the station marked it as the train to Faro in the
South of Portugal and did not list the train number. I made the train with, oh 2 minutes maybe
7:00 PM Finally at my hotel.
There is an hour time change between Spain and Portugal so I actually arrived about 8:00 PM.
It was nice to see the countryside and part of the train ride was along the shore with views of the ocean and beach. But the trip was long. The bus was, well, a long distance bus. The train was much nicer since I upgraded my seat. But all together this day was mostly boring.
In the future I would go in and out of La Coruna, or Santiago from London, or Vigo through Paris. There is only one flight a day per city so scheduling could be difficult but the extra travel days to move between cities are not worth the lost time and expense.
